Conan (2d20) : 6.4/10
Savage Worlds (deluxe) : 7.4/10
Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea (v2) : 8.6/10
Barbarians of Lemuria : 6.6/10
ZeFRS : 5.4/10
Voilà les détails des notes sur ZeFRS :
Fun Rating: 4 /10
The game mechanics really got in the way of the story at the table. Characters didn’t feel cool, or even talented. It was basically a fail-fest out of combat and a slow fight for attrition in combat. The GM has to houserule a lot during play, as there are holes in the rules. NPC’s need a lot of special little notes to remember, and making adventures is annoying.
Character Rating: 4/10
A lot of character concepts just don’t work well right out of the box. Some Talents are very poorly explained and the Weakness list is far too short. The luck meta-currency is unfair, and characters are generally very weak to start. No Attributes weakens character concepts and some Talents are pretty much required. They also don’t really speak from the character sheet and don’t feel particularly like Hyborian Age characters.
Weapons, Gear, Damage Rating: 5/10
There is some minor weapon variance, including a pretty neat reach mechanic. Armor is bought in parts, but is ultimately both incredibly effective and useless due to the game’s mechanics. One Hits kills are possible, but cause the game to devolve into hoping for a 10 or lower every attack. The damage system makes for slow, ponderous combat.
Options Rating: 7/10
Potentially the ability to roll a Talent for whatever you want to accomplish, but some Talents are lacking or entirely absent, Also, don’t expect cool actions to succeed often. Even though there is guidance for several situations, a GM will often find themselves interpreting results at the table. Finally, PC’s will often be missing the Talent they would need for an action, resulting in roll a General Talent.
Sorcery Rating: 7/10
Spells can be powerful and long lasting, but the chance to cast them is low. Permanent damage from summoning demons just isn’t something we see in the stories. There isn’t a built in ritual system or anything to increase the chance of casting more powerful spells successfully. Still, with some modifications it wouldn’t be a terrible system for Conan magic.
